"C'est bon....bon!"

A gift from my mother.
An old bonbon tin
(without the chocolates)
severely affected
by the ravages
of time.

To me
the test of time
makes her prettier,
the tin, the lad
y
more interesting,
intriguing.

As an ancient ruin
hidden in a forest
or an abandoned house
with black and white
photographs
of forgotten lovers
on the mantelshelf
and a floral curtain
flowing
for a broken window.

I love these things
cannot explain why
has got something
to do with
discovering,
rediscovering or
retrieving.

As if you were
looking for something
unconscious
until you've found it.

Japanese

These are
the curtains
my 5-year old
chose for
her bedroom.

Well hey!

No barbie,
K3 or
princesses
fabric.

To her
the most
charming fabric
would be
the one with
Wickie the Viking,
Maja the Bee
or Heidi on it.

(Characters from
Japanese children's
animation series
from the 70s)

Unfortunately,
these kind of fabrics
are very hard
to come by
these days ....

My little webshop!

I started
a little webshop
yesterday.

Out of curiosity,
wondering
whether it will run
or not.

And because
I have too
many things
in the nest.

It is not complete
& finished yet
(shop, products
and design)
but
if you want
to take a look
here is the link:

Monday washing day........maandag wasdag

Finding treasures
in my own nest
that is something
which happens to me
regularly.

Yesterday
I was cleaning up a bit
upstairs
in the back of a closet
I found a large orange bag.

Curious...
I took the bag out of the closet and
look what was in it!
(I think this is such a beautiful old-timed sky!)

All vintage fabrics,
tablecloths, curtains, pillow cases,
scarves, tea towels,
and even a duster.

Mmmmiam!

All purchased by me once
but completely forgotten.

Coincidentally,
today sunny and windy,
perfect for a wash and
all of those nice goodies
hanging on the line
to dry &
showing off.

Parkietje.....Lovebird

Reflections

I read my last post
for a while
and then I find
that when I would not
know myself
- and maybe I know myself
not as well as I think or hope-

But well..

what I find is that when I
-for example-
would read my posts
being someone else
I would think
that not all messages
are equally nice
like the one about princesses
and certainly my last
about that particular old ladies.

I do not often place
a cheerful & airy post
I trie
but hardly never succeed in it
it is neither my style
and certainly not my character
melancholia and musings
and often ramblings
is what can be found here.

And please note
it is never my intention
to hurt anybody
with all the nonsense
that sometimes comes
out of my head.

I love old ladies
(but please no lilies...).

Faded Glory

This weekend
I was having diner
somewhere.

On the table was a bouquet
containing a few lilies
white with pink tinged.

The smell of them
was so strong
that it took away
our appetite
and we moved
the bouquet
to another spot
in the house

I thought
how these lilies
resemble
certain ladies
at age
once beauteous
but transient

My mind's eye saw
one of those ladies
walking around in my house
perhaps it was me
about 20 years
maybe 30….

Filling the nest
with the smell
of nearly wilted
but
touch-and-going
  glaringly

blooming lilies.

Perhaps not even
entirely unpleasant
but unintentionally
too hysterical
and well-nigh vulgar
sweet and intoxicating
baiting & anther dusting.

Appetite spoiled.

Chimera, figments......hersenspinsels

Feeling better Today

Feeling better today.

Entered the lion's den yesterday.
There was no lion inside
just a shot deer
or was it
a sad and frightened rabbit.

Dear people around me.

It was a good day.

Still
a bit tired.
These things can take
a lot of energy.

But I feel that
everything is falling
into the right place.

Pimpampoentje.....a Dutch word for Ladybird

Lieveheersbeestje, Hemelbeestje
or Ingeltsje (Frisian for little angel)

It is always said that
ladybirds are as old
as the number of dots they have.

This myth is hard to eradicate,
and is there any need for it...?

My aching Head......a Lament

I have a headache,
a sore neck
&
big bruises on my legs
and I feel very tired.

What happened?

Attacked at work by a client with
mild intellectual disabilities
&
severe behavioral problems.

Out of the Blue
(apparently)

Risk of Profession
you could call it
and that is what it is.

I will beat myself through it,
keep my mind free
and know
it's not the end of the world
at best a 5
on my scale of unpleasant events
(which is quite a bit high though).

Yesterday, one day off, I could relax a bit
this afternoon I venture back
into the den of the lion,
that’s how it feels a bit now.

Luckily I am surrounded
by good and dear colleagues.

Unfortunately nothing heard from
the Director of the Circus
and find that quite
a bit of a pity
and not so professional.

Vive la France!

The Goose Girl

A sweet & vintage picture of
the goose girl
it is from the cover of an old
jigsaw puzzle
found in the charityshop
yesterday

It is a German fairy tale
collected by
the Brothers Grimm

The main motif is about
staying true
to ones noble character,
even in
the harshest conditions.

Happiness

Geluk

Geluk is geen kathedraal,
misschien een klein kapelletje.
Geen kermis luid en kolossaal,
misschien een carrouselletje.

Geluk is geen zomer van smetteloos blauw,
maar nu en dan een zonnetje.
Geluk dat is geen zeppelin,
't is hooguit 'n ballonnetje.

Toon Hermans

Pip and her little dip.

Pip has a small dip.
Happy holidays behind us with
beautiful weather & highs and lows.
5 Year old back to school again today.
Pip back to work tomorrow.
Many treasures found at flea markets.
Also this beautiful orange metal medicine cabinet.
Looking for a nice spot in the nest.

Princes and Princesses

Princes and Prinsesses?
You have them in all shapes and sizes.
Real princes and princesses
Royal by Blood

For now
They do not count

This is about the Princesses
from fairy tales
and their Princes on white horses

Their wonderful lifes
in their beautifull castles
Surrounded by
the pink scent of roses and silver moonlight
jewelry, diamonds, chocolate, sweets,
candy, cream, sky cots, crowns, slippers,
velvet, golden balls...

Oh yes…
the Prinsess and the Frog
Know the story?
Sometimes you meet
a princess like her

She lives in a dream world
surrounding herself with only good things.
and putting herself in the center of this
very cool & beautiful
& shiny universe
Everything is about
Enjoying the moment
Especially enjoying
Egoism versus altruism

I do not like this princess very much
(if very thick on top
very obvious
I have no such difficulty

with her
but the princess so pretty
that wants to appear humble and innocent
but actually is not

Still very subtle
It is her
I find not so nice

like the wolf in sheep's clothing )

I prefer
Snow White and Cinderella
They seem a bit more
like real people
a bit more human

and there is
Nothing wrong with
Illusions
But often
the dream is better
 than reality

To be human
Be Yourself
Is more
Important

To live a real life
make choices
Have responsibilities
you're on top
and sometimes
you go through
very deep valleys
valleys filled
with tears
Adored and rejected

Not always surrounded
by the pink scent of roses
and moonlight

Taking care and caring for
yourself and one another
forgive and be forgiven
appreciate the little things
Not be Complacent
Give and take
For
What goes around comes around
And my favorite prince?
no doubt
Le Petit Prince
of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
and his Rose
