Things that make me happy, Swansong.

Swansong.
The last poem of a poet,
before his death.
The name is a reference
to the myth
that a swan,
when she feels
her death coming,
once
bursts into
a wonderful song.

This myth is found
in the Phaedo of Plato.
Socrates
says here
on the eve of his execution
that swans
before they die
sing better
than ever,
not from sadness
but out of joy
over the benefits
of Apollo
which will await them
after death.
